A STEP FOWARD IN THE PROMISE OF ULTRAFAST 'HYERPLOOPS'

A Step Forward in the Promise of Ultrafast ‘Hyperloops’

Our colleague, Sara Luchian from Hyperloop, had an incredible day yesterday. So proud and excited for the amazing work she and the Hyperloop team have been working on.

Josh Giegel and Sara Luchian as their hyperloop pod accelerated on Sunday in the desert north of Las Vegas. They reached 107 m.p.h. in just over six seconds.

MOAPA, Nev. — Hyperloop technology, which promises to transport people and goods at speeds of up to 600 miles an hour, has long seemed too good to be true. But one company says it has cleared an important step toward commercializing it by moving two of its employees through a test system.

SUNNYVALE CIVIC CENTER

The Sunnyvale Civic Center, on the corner of El Camino Real and Mathilda Avenue, is home to the City of Sunnyvale’s (City) primary administrative facilities (City Hall), Library, and Department of Public Safety Headquarters. The goals for modernizing the Civic Center are straightforward—to improve access to City services, preserve or enhance current City service levels, and improve technology to expand service capabilities. The Civic Center Master Plan (Master Plan) contains a long-term, multi-phased vision of the entire campus: constructing three new facilities—a City Hall, Department of Public Safety Headquarters, and Library; razing older structures on site, relocating most of the on-grade parking to underground spaces; increasing open space and native landscape; and modernizing the entire campus. During the phased construction, the City prefers to keep the campus in situ with its services functioning at full capacity, and to avoid relocating any employees to temporary facilities.

LOS ANGELES, July 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- StandardVision, LLC (“StandardVision” or “the Company”), a leading operator of experiential and architecturally-integrated LED digital media solutions, today announced it has won the IES Lumen West 2018 Award of Excellence for Outdoor Lighting Design. The award is in recognition of the Company’s design of the architectural media lighting platforms for the iconic Wilshire Grand Center located in Downtown Los Angeles.

The Lumen West Awards publicly recognize lighting design members of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), Los Angeles Section, whose exceptional professionalism, ingenuity and originality in lighting design has culminated in some of the world’s most innovative lighting projects. The Lumen Award of Excellence is the highest level of recognition for permanent architectural application.

IES Award of Excellence recipients at the local level are eligible for consideration at the IES 2018 Annual Conference Illumination Awards Gala, which will be held on August 9, 2018 at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.

“I am pleased to accept this prestigious award on behalf of our team at StandardVision and all of our partners that contributed to this cutting-edge project,” said Joshua VanBlankenship, StandardVision’s Vice President, Media Platforms. “The Wilshire Grand Center is an example of StandardVision’s mission to redefine how people experience and interact with the built environment. This project was uniquely special to us as it let us showcase our talents in our hometown and contribute to the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Los Angeles.”

StandardVision consulted with AC Martin and subcontracted with Turner Construction to design, manufacture and install all integrated LED media displays, narrative LED lighting and the programmatic “brain” that controls all lighting content throughout the Wilshire Grand Center’s façade.

PRESS RELEASE GlobeNewswire

LOS ANGELES, June 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- StandardVision, LLC (“StandardVision”), a leading operator of experiential and architecturally-integrated LED digital media solutions, announced today it has been selected to program the massive LED display in the lobby of OUE Ltd’s US Bank Tower located in downtown Los Angeles (DTLA).

Extending almost half the length of a football field and housed in a glass atrium, the digital monument not only dominates the lobby, but can also be viewed from nearby streets. Its content delivery system uses artificial intelligence to change the flow of music and visuals to mimic the movement of pedestrian traffic within the lobby.

As part of the agreement, StandardVision will curate digital programming with visual and conceptual interpretations covering a wide range of themes. The launch will feature a water motif—employing techniques of scale and abstraction, it will elegantly transform the lobby by bringing nature into the urban environment.

Los Angeles-based StandardVision will draw heavily on its local creative partnerships along with its existing content library in curating the programming. StandardVision’s digital collection is carefully selected and specifically created for architectural use, and spans all aesthetics of digital content while offering a wide variety of subjects and genres.

“We are thrilled to partner with OUE Ltd to help revitalize the main lobby of the iconic US Bank Tower,” said Adrian Velicescu, StandardVision’s CEO and Chief Creative Officer. “We look forward to maximizing the capabilities of this incredible display and also providing a new avenue for local content partners.”

The US Bank Tower, a Class A office tower, is located at the foot of DTLA’s Bunker Hill.  Rising to 1,018 feet, with 72 floors of office accommodation, the building’s lobby has recently undergone extensive upgrades. These include the installation of one of the largest digital displays for any office building in the country, measuring 126 feet long and 17 feet tall, and with a pixel resolution of 8,500 x 1,440, or more than 12.2 million pixels.
